The introduction of RingsDB has invigorated the Lord of the Rings community, sparking creativity and enabling the sharing of ideas at a rate never before seen. With this explosive growth in new content, however, it is becoming easier and easier for interesting and exceptional work to fall through the cracks. The Deck Spotlight project is an attempt by the Cardboard of the Rings community to direct attention to deserving decks that, for one reason or another, have escaped notice.
Selected decks and fellowships might be especially unusual, creative, unique, strategic, or thematic. They might be funny, illuminating, powerful, or noteworthy for any of a number of other reasons. In all cases, however, the decks are worth a closer look.
So what gets the spotlight today? …a Blood/Fire deck? …an Outlands deck? …how about a Noldor deck?

I’m willing to bet that, as soon as they got their hands on Heirs of Numenor, pretty much everyone immediately began envisioning an epic Rohan and Gondor alliance, a recreation of the armies of man built to stand up to Sauron’s forces. The card Mutual Accord virtually begged for a coordinated fellowship to unlock its potential, and many such fellowships have been made.
To quote the author “This is a Boromir deck… This is a Hobbit Secrecy deck.” and I love every bit of this smash-up for both its theme and prowess.
Hello everyone, WanderingTook here. I think it’s no stretch to say that we have the best gaming community around. After hovering on the fringes for a while, I am excited to be able to give back to what has become my “internet home”, and so I will be regularly contributing to the CotR Deck Spotlight series.

It’s customary for developers to ratchet up the threats posed with each new cycle, and Angmar Awakened was certainly no exception, with all sorts of new combat tricks and nastiness. This forced many players to begin contemplating approaches that might previously have been unthinkable. Such as an Elrond deck that doesn’t also include Vilya.
